Hello, AFRU Supporters, and a happy National Fettuccine Alfredo Day to you all. That’s an actual thing! Actually today!
We wanted to spread the news about some exciting goings on:
First off, the Portland Winter Light Festival is in full swing, and you won’t want to miss out on the Ministry of Stupid Ideas’ interactive fire sculpture at Pioneer Square. The Ill-Considered Strength-O-Meter is 37’ tall and inspired by feat-of-strength carnival games of yore. It runs this coming Friday, Feb 9 and Saturday, Feb 10, 6pm-10pm and, like the rest of the festival, is entirely FREE! Stop by and say hi! More info here:
This is the last week for NW performing artists to apply to the 2024 RISK/REWARD Festival of New Performance. It's their 16th year, and it's going to be an incredible one. Find out more at:
Our friends at PDX Pop Now! are currently accepting submissions of graphic art for their 2024 festival. The Festival Artist is responsible for designing a whole slew of festival assets, including CD cases, posters, T-shirts, pins, social media graphics, etc. Deadline for artists to apply is Monday, February 26. Find out more at:
On Friday, March 15th, the one and only Svetlana Trantastic will be joining Portland’s premier drag clown Carla Rossi at the Tomorrow Theater for Ask Dr. Carla, a night of improvisational drag comedy. “Like a late night talk show, except it’s unlicensed therapy with unhinged drag queens.” Come join the fun!
Keep roaring and keep soaring! Hope to see you soon! – Team AFRU
